Hello Michelle, i'm sorry for the delay. It's never too late. Maybe, yeah, maybe it will be more difficult to became a very good professional because of the time, as you get older you don't have so much time to practicing as you had when you were young. In conclusion, it basically depends on your objetives, if you want to play it as a hobby it's fine, but if you would want to get inside the professional environment there are more things to take in count. Well, I hope to have helped you. And please don't discourage. After all you can learn whatever you want.
Sincerely. Gabriel

I agree, never too late! For me starting to play piano at the age of 30 something was a real step into being playful with myself, softening the mind and allowing myself to be curious, just to make sound and to find melody. I absolutely love playing and I'm fascinated how much great music I am able to play, by playing with others, just adding and or learning chords through them and their music. So, I'm saying know what you want to get out of it. Have fun!

You are asking the wrong question. Starting something is harder than getting somewhere with it.
Adult learners have self-motivation and more patience. An adult learning the piano will understand the theory faster and pick up the notes with better finger dexterity. You do type on your computer keyboard a lot, right? ;)
To get you started I have questions for you to think about:
Do you have access to a piano, whether digital or mechanical?
Do you have passion for music?
Can you set around 10-15 minutes a day to practise at first?
Do you pick up tunes and sing or hum them?
What do you aspire to do with this new skill?
Do you want to learn a mix of methodical techniques and apply them in fun melodies?
Do you have an experienced teacher, whether online or in person?
Contact me to talk about it more. I hope this helps anyway.

Its never too late to learn something new. I believe at higher ages the rate of learning is not as sped up as young kids but it is absolutely possible. My mother learnt the piano at 40 and still plays.

It's not too late, but your mind and muscles need more regular practice as you get older to take on new expertise. You can do it, but you should practice daily

It is absolutely not too late to begin. My middle school music teacher has been giving guitar lessons to a 77 year old man who did not have any background in music. He has improved so much over the 3 years. Learning a new skill is a challenge no matter your age, and it is your personality and how you tackle the process that defines how enjoyable it is. If you have a good teacher and enjoy learning, you will absolutely progress quickly!

Hi Michelle, it´s never too late to learn anything! You shoul try it! Don´t give up that idea. You know, I love languages and I´m currently learning Italian. I work at a bank, I´m a professor at university and I offer Spanish classes online -I´m a teacher-, nevertheless I make myself time for learning the language. I´m in my third year now. BTW, I´m 52, I am not that young but I have the will to achieve my goals. So, coming back to your question, start learning piano tomorrow!
Regards from Argentina.
Gustavo.

It's never too late to start learning music. If you have passion to learn piano you must not only attend classes but also keep practicing what you've learned. Sometimes its hard to find time but thats alright as well, you don't have to force yourself into learning all at once. Baby steps help you run better in the future no matter what your age is.
