I value one to one tutoring in a nice relaxed atmosphere with the emphasis on the tutor being the facilitator and not the centre of attention showing what he can do. I try to be person centre striving get the student to play something right from the start. I am aware student’s learning styles are different and seek to address their learning styles by way of a quick assessment. Having said this I strive not to be too technical and hope that other aids such as videos and exercises at the appropriate time will aid the students in a productive way. Past experiences of the students will also be a useful use of teaching as I have learnt that students learn better when they do things that they can relate to. Invariably a one hour teaching period has proved the optimal length of time for students to absorb learning as it is balanced between practical and theoretical information and the student does not become over stretched. I have a flexible approach to the student- tutor relationship and this creates a good working relationship. For example, I believe in a commitment to learning but am flexible enough to appreciate that circumstances may change due to unforeseen issues. So changes days , hours venues etc may required to main teaching momentum from time to time. In the main I believe that the students will enjoy a friendly person centred experience to my teaching approach
