I would say that if you need guidance in having your weaknesses in Maths outlined to you and addressed then a tutor would definitely do that for you, it’s also sometimes pretty nice to have a structured lesson (each week for example) where you know someone has your best interests solely in mind and will be working on whatever you need them to in Maths. However, if you find yourself working well and productively individually anyway, it’s not so necessary in my opinion. Hope that helps :)

Hi Miranda, I had a similar experience during my GCSEs where I began to resent mathematics. Luckily my mother recognised the importance of mathematics for later in life and she set me up with a personal tutor. Once a week he would come to my house and I would list all my questions and things I didn’t understand through the week in my maths class and he really helped me. I gained confidence and even a passion for maths and I ended up choosing it for my A Levels (even though I was initially predicted a 5 at GCSE). So I would definitely recommend a tutor!

Yes, as a Maths tutor can help you to gain confidence by finding the areas that you are struggling with. The amount of work and concepts covered by working on a 1-1 basis can be quite significant. You can also work at your own pace.

Hello Miranda, and yes, math tutors are worth it! As someone who has been tutored before, tutoring is guaranteed to boost your grade by at least 2 or 3 grades. Math tutors are especially useful for specific concepts that are difficult - they work at your pace and focus on areas where you are having trouble. Not only that, but tutors can especially give good study tips and help out with exam technique. As a math tutor, I can help you out and fix those problems!

Hello Miranda that is a great question. It all depends on what you are trying to get out of the tutoring sessions. Often a tutor will be able to assist you in most areas of your learning- from basic questions you to helping you with exams/tests. If you could provide more information via message I would be very happy to help! Best, Oscar :)

Maths is very easy if someone try to understand. As per my experience, some students are not sharp to pick the concept i. Classroom or may be sometimes due to classroom environment. These students do good progress with the tutor. Because the tutor works on his/her weak zone and they perform very well.

A tutor can make difference. He can do that by explaining some facts that can help in understanding the relevant concepts. Additionally, some students don't understand just because they lack confidence in their abilities. The teacher can easily help them to gain that confidence.

It depends on how well you can communicate with them. An excellent tutor/student relationship will be one where the student has a desired outcome and the tutor knows how to get there. They talk about challenges and pitfalls, they marvel at how far they’ve come and the student enters the exam with a confidence that comes from tutor-imparted belief. Any student truly willing to achieve will do so with the right tutor.

Hiring a maths tutor can definitely make a difference, especially if you’re struggling. Speaking from experience, I had a private maths tutor starting in grade 5 because maths was the hardest subject for me. With the right guidance and mentoring, it quickly became one of the easiest and most enjoyable subjects, which eventually helped me complete my bachelor’s in engineering. A tutor can provide personalized support, making challenging concepts easier to understand and giving you the confidence to succeed in your maths classes.

Yes it does help! Maths is a subject that is learnt by joining concepts, like step by step. If a step is missed it makes it difficult to get to the other steps. A tutor has more time with an individual and concentrate on the concepts you need help in to catch up with the required level of the subject. It can be short or long depending but can work a time frame after assessment of what you the student need help at.
