Before each of my lessons, I like to let my students choose what the lesson topic will be so they can better focus on the parts of the subject they feel need the most attention. If there are no requests for lesson topics then I will select a topic that I feel the student needs more practice in, but am happy to change plans mid-lesson to accommodate my students' needs. If I am introducing a new topic or concept, I will explain it first before giving opportunities for discussion, then letting the student tackle some practice questions to help build their confidence. I always prepare a large question bank as I have found that the more a student practices exam style questions, the quicker they understand new concepts and the deeper their understanding is. I like to use my tablet to allow for drawings and illustrations to help aid learning. Throughout the lesson I like to check in with the students and make sure they are happy with the content that has been covered so far, as well as allow opportunities to ask questions and clear up anything they don't understand. At the end of the lesson, I like to let my students choose whether they would like some practice questions to do in their spare time or to continue practice next lesson or both. If I have set some practice questions for them to do, I will cover them at the beginning of the next lesson before moving onto the next topic or more practice if they have requested it.
