Advert description
I have a first class honours degree in medical sciences from the University of Oxford and am currently continuing my studies in clinical medicine there. My passion for the human body means that I primarily tutor human biology, but I also enjoy teaching the plant and environmental topics in biology, such as biodiversity and translocation. I've been tutoring for 2 and a half years now through an agency and have just gone private (I can provide my former tutoring page and reviews on request).
How do lessons work?
Well, you tell me in advance what topic you would like to cover and this means I'll have plenty of time to find resources and practice question. We'll start a lesson by brainstorming what you already know and then discussing the confusing topic at length using a mixture of discussion, diagrams and animations. I like to go beyond the spec with most students, so for example if we were looking at the kidneys, I might speak with my students about what happens to blood pressure and acid-base balance during kidney failure.
Once I think the student understands, I'll try and get my student to explain the topic back to me as if I were a student who had not yet studied that topic in school and then we move onto exam technique by looking at plenty of practice questions! Between 15-30 minutes on exam-style questions is usually a good benchmark for most students.
