I am a friendly genetic engineer. For the last decade, I have designed viruses, cells and organisms mainly for gene therapy. Working for start-up Biotech companies and the University of Oxford.

I am in the process of starting up my own Biotech while looking after my 5-year-old. I live in OX4 but work extensively in the North Oxford, Kidlington and Witney (OX29) areas. If our schedules align, I would prefer to teach in person. Online lessons are, of course, available!

I have a year's experience tutoring and many more mentoring younger scientists. I have an enhanced- DBS certificate, which I can provide if requested.

GCSE/A-LEVEL STUDENTS

I offer structured lessons in which we review content, followed by exercises (which could include past paper questions) specific to your exam board specifications and curriculum.

Your answers will inform me on how to design our next lesson together. That way, I can tailor each lesson to individual students. It's important that I'm not simply rehashing school lessons but pinpointing the areas where we need to put the most focus, making sure we build a solid foundation of understanding before moving on.

UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

My main focus for university students is molecular and synthetic biology, from plant science to virology. I have real-life experience I can offer if you want to help unpick a particular lecture, structure a realistic research proposal, or effectively present your work. I will follow your lead to help you realise the career you want.

For those wanting to feel more comfortable in lessons or better understand the biological world, we can have some real fun! Perform experiments to break apart concepts and gain a deeper level of understanding. Explore the latest developments and trends. Talk to researchers about their work.
