Advert description
I have worked as a professional, full-time tutor since 2022. With well over 2500 lessons given as an online tutor, I have received positive feedback from students, parents and colleagues. My students have improved their grades substantially.
I have the necessary academic qualifications to teach Maths, Physics and Chemistry at all exam boards at A-level. I received a BA and 1st class Masters in Natural Sciences, studying modules in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. For my research for my Masters, I specialised in Chemistry and was awarded the David Thompson College Prize by Homerton College. During my time in high school in Scotland, I received the Higgs Prize for the best result in Advanced Higher Physics across Scottish State Schools. I also received the grade A(1) at Scottish Advanced Higher for all of Physics, Chemistry and Maths. I have a wide range of teaching experience, from helping children with dyslexia to read in secondary school, to teaching Chemistry in schools in China, and tutoring Maths and Science since university. I am DBS-checked.
A typical tuition lesson would involve going over the material the student is studying in school, ascertaining the student’s understanding of the basics, and then seeing what material the student previously did not feel comfortable with. It’s after this point that, depending on the student, we can push further towards advanced-level topics. Most importantly, I believe it is essential to communicate openly with the student (and parent) about how this approach is working for them and discuss progress.
