I would always ask the student where they think they need help and we can start there. Then we can go over all the work they don't understand.
Using visual, auditory or kinesthetic means we can figure out which way the learner understands best. Once we've figured out which way they learn, we can incorporate it into their tutoring sessions. This will help improve their quality of learning. It will make tasks more enjoyable.
Students can expect me to help them figure out the solutions. I like to allow them time to try and figure out the problem before I step in. This will teach the students necessary skills to understand what to do in future.
