I am a qualified maths teacher with 5 years’ experience of teaching in secondary schools in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. I have taught at all different secondary key stages, including A-Level Maths and Further Maths as well as teaching both Foundation and Higher tier GCSE classes.

I place a high emphasis on atomisation in my teaching - that is, breaking down content into its constituent parts so that students can more easily confidence and mastery in any given mathematical topic. I also place a strong emphasis on questioning students regularly to check for understanding, ensuring that students do not get left behind if they do not understand a particular topic.

Generally, when I am teaching, I use the first half of the lesson to check understanding of pre-requisites and providing examples, with the second half of the lesson focussing more on independent practice.
