The piano has 88 keys. In each octave, there are 12 notes. There are seven octaves plus four keys (three notes below the lowest C and then there's the highest C on top). 12 * 7 + 4 = 88. Hope this helps :)

People may say the piano is the hardest instrument as it has a mixture of white keys (thicker keys that line the bottom of the keyboard of the piano) and there are also black keys (keys that essentially pop up out of the keyboard, that have a slightly elevated or lower pitch compared to the white note, depending on which side of the white note it is on). The piano in total has 88 keys, 52 white keys and 36 black keys. It is split into octaves (the distance between lower frequency to a note that has a higher frequency, however they are essentially denoted as the same note regardless). The word octave means “eighth” in Latin, as it refers to the number of white keys in between two notes of differing frequencies, but similar note identities. For example, you can have a note A at a lower frequency, and once you progress up 8 white keys, you get to the next note A, which is an “octave” higher than the previous A. So, yes it is a case of that it has the most musical notes that makes it hard, however the piano is only limited to those notes, and one could say that it is somehow easier as they show you which notes to press to express which key. Instrument like the guitar or violin require you to find the key by yourself by pressing on the strings and plucking or using your bow to find the note. So the argument can go both ways. However, the piano is an amazing instrument to learn, and I am able to help you learn it if you are willing!

A piano has 88 notes, however you only need to learn 7 notes as the pattern repeats up and down the keyboard using the first 7 letters of the alphabet!

The piano is just like any other instrument- don’t be deterred by the number of notes. In truth, there are only 8 notes, and their variations. Familiarity of these comes over time.
