I teach using specific piano books, theory workbooks and listening exercises. I move students onto exam material, continuing with theory ideally (but optional). I follow the Trinity College syllabus but can use ABRSM if students have already started working on ABRSM material.

I have a 100% exam pass rate. It's fine to follow the exam syllabus without sitting the exam - this approach suits those who want to progress without the pressure of exams. However exams can be taken using recordings from the comfort of your home and your recordings are only submitted once I have checked them. This is great if you want to take exams but don't like performing. Finally, exams can still be taken in the traditional way, in person. This boosts performance confidence but is entirely optional.
I have taught all ages and abilities. However online lessons are not suitable for very young children. I ask that young children have a grasp of counting numbers, the alphabet, and differentiating between their left and right hand before beginning piano lessons.
My approach is traditional and structured. It does rely on students purchasing their own music books and theory workbooks.
I am relaxed and knowledgable. Student progression will depend on practise but I recommend regular, ideally daily practise. I believe parents should be supportive and encouraging, assisting practise in children. Young children need help with practise. But I don't believe in pushing or pressurising students. Music should be part of a broad set of interests and balanced with sports, socialising and leisure time.
