Do you need your own guitar for the private lessons?

Hi! I’m interested in taking private guitar lessons but don’t own a guitar yet. Is it necessary to have my own instrument for the lessons, or can I use one provided by the instructor?

Dear Rachel For the first ten lessons a guitar can be provided by the tutor but to allow practice yat home having your own is best. The fit is important. Your tutor can help you choose one. Kind regards

Generally yes This is because without practice one cannot improve, plus it’s fun to play music.

Hello. The student definitely needs to have his/her own guitar. This is necessary so that he/she can practice and work a lot after class.

You can use a guitar provided by the tutor, but you won’t learn well unless you can practice regularly - ie several times a week, so you should get your own guitar. However, reasonable guitars are available from about £50. Contact me if you need more help. Graham

You should find a really nice acoustic guitar to begin on and purchase it. You need to practice every day so having your own guitar that you love to play is a must. For most students there is a 2 month break in period where you get acclimated. This is a wonderful time ! I bought an Ovation GCA on the HP and still have that guitar today. It is built to last. We all love the sound of it. I also like Seagull guitars made in Canada. They sound good. Cheers James Walsh

It is best to have your own guitar, so you could spend time with it at least an hour a day. This will help your hands familiarize faster with the instrument and will make learning faster.

I would say that for the best improvement then it’s very helpful to have your own! You can play whenever you want and it’s much easier to help the student when they have their own instrument!
