Advert description
An Oxbridge-qualified linguist of 40yrs' varied and successful experience, Ian has worked with students across a range of ages, subjects and backgrounds ~ from young asylum seekers, Young Offenders and 'sick children' to top independent-school scholars, Oxbridge aspirants and adults including postgraduates; he brings empathy, humour and a generous and stimulating cross-curricular approach to bear on all cases.
Whether you are (perhaps) struggling with GCSE Maths, or want a clued-up tutor for generalist support across a range of subjects, e.g. for an upcoming exam round such as private schools' 11+ / 13+ transfer or (I)GCSE, Ian can offer you warmth and patient reassurance as you prepare: identifying weaker topics, dealing with them, and building-in strategies for learning, recall and coping with what your Papers demand.
Ian is happy working online on most usual platforms, and with 'virtual whiteboards' / onscreen document share protocols. 40 years ago his training included working with open-reel language laboratories (postMillennial students wouldn't have a clue what those ever were!) ~ but like any true teacher, he has moved with the times, and indeed is a firm believer in the merits of LifeLong Learning, both in terms of method and (of course) content.
Beyond his 'day work' as a freelance tutor, writer (e.g. of A* mock GCSE English material for CGP) and editor, Ian is an active community musician who enjoys travel and the Arts.
If you like the sound of such an approach, please contact Ian at soonest convenience via the website, where he looks forward to your enquiry.
