Life Coach dedicated to helping students reach their academic potential!

Advert description
My journey to academic success was difficult. It was riddled with frustration that I could not achieve the grades I wanted to especially during my A-levels. I was working hard, but admittedly not working smart. I did not know the correct exam technique or the correct way to revise. I went from achieving CCD in my Year 12 end of year mocks to achieving A*BB for my A Levels. Most notably changing the D in my Sociology A Level mock to an A* and not just any A*, the highest mark across both classes in the cohort! What changed in Year 13 was the way went about revising — rather than making pretty mind maps and notes I focused my time and attention on essay question based revision. This is what I like to call working smarter, not harder with students I tutor and mentor.

I have now gone on to achieving a lot of great academic successes. For example, I am currently studying the Bar Course part-time after being awarded prestigious and competitive scholarships from Lincoln’s Inn and the UCL Leonard Sainer Scholarship Fund. I have graduated from my LLM (Masters of Law) in Social Justice at University College London with a high merit and successfully graduated in Law with Sociology at Royal Holloway, University of London with a 1st class.

I believe my skills and personal experiences would allow me to contribute effectively to this role. Firstly, I have an inspirational story to tell those I coach: I am the first in my extended family to attend university; I received free school meals throughout my time in school; I come from a working class background and English is not my first language. Regardless of this, I saw education as an escape and I held a genuine passion for it.

Secondly, I have several experiences mentoring/coaching students such as through my time as a Sixth-Form Law Society Coordinator, where I gave students advice and support in their journey to law. This included providing support for UCAS applications. I also mentored students through an app called Mentino and I have mentored current students in regards to exam success, revision skills and timetabling.

Lastly, I have a diverse range of experience with children and young adults through my roles surrounding tutoring, sports coaching, mentoring and being a legal education volunteer in schools. I have previous experience working with SEN children and possess a recent enhanced DBS check.

I found Amrit in December when I was struggling in my year 13 sociology a-level and received a grade D. Amrit has helped me with understanding exam structure and applying knowledge effectively to be awarded high marks. In my end of year mocks I received an A*. These grades are truly a reflection of how much Amrit has helped me.

Amrit is very good at what she does, this is evidenced by her amazing grades. I loved how transparent she was with my daughter regarding her academic failures, like how she went from a D to an A* in just under a year! I think this gave her the motivation she needed to see how she can also achieve such great academic success too. She is also very diligent and careful when it comes to helping students with UCAS applications and general revision skills. She focuses on how students can use their time for efficiently by doing the most useful prep for exams.
