Ian in a nutshell
Originally an Oxbridge-qualified (1982!) modern linguist, Ian has spent ~25years as a freelancing generalist, successfully supporting students across a wide range of ages and subjects; some years this has entailed 10 or 12 subjects for public examinations (I/GCSE, A-Level; independent schools' 11+/13+ transfer), and he also has direct experience of Marking and Moderating papers.

Meanwhile he is a published educational author, with experience of academic editing to postgraduate level, whose broader interests include decades of activity as a community musician (keyboardist & choralist across a range of genres: church, chamber, stage-musicals, Gospel).
This cross-curricular breadth and depth make him an almost uniquely versatile teacher, able to switch on demand between (say) GCSE Maths, Geography, Music or German; like any true teacher he is a firm believer in LifeLong Learning, who practises what he preaches. His lessons are meaty and interesting, but personalised and pertinent to your needs, combining learning, recall and 'Paper' strategies with warmth, humour and enthusiasm.
If this sounds like your 'wavelength', please make contact through FT's website ~ so we can discuss your needs in further detail, and set up an initial short sequence of sessions: that way we can see how we mesh as tutor and student, and how soon Ian's support makes a welcome positive difference to your subject progress!
