Teaching skills, lesson, and the worldview

Advert description
I am currently enrolled in a University majoring in Elementary Education. I have been teaching in tutoring, an academy, and an International school in South Korea for 3 years. I taught mainly elementary students and also middle schoolers. My lessons were focused on English literature with kinesthetic lessons. The most important worldview in my teaching career is to provide a safe and enjoyable study environment to let students be willing to learn. I prefer to interpret students' interest in the lesson to encourage and to let the students view their future goals in a wide range to show the various possibilities. For example, one of the students that I taught had a dream of becoming a firefighter. The academic goal was to build student's reading, listening, and writing skills. We watched interviews or short documentaries about who are firefighters and what kind of job it is. Then, we read a short story book, news, or poetry to view different people's viewpoints of who is a firefighter and what kind of job it is. Furthermore, we came to do a discussion after reading a news article. Finally, the students preferred a topic related to firefighters as our writing lesson. In another lesson, we created newspapers, interview sheets, diagrams, draw and match, and "What If" activity. I believe learning should not be worksheets that students have to sit and work on for hours. Learning and teaching need to be done by the cooperation of students and teachers. The teacher's role is to create lessons that will let students enjoy and understand and students' role is to be blended into the safe environment to actively grow their creative and critical thinking skills through the lesson.
