Spanish tutor from A1 to C2 level

I have a PhD in Education (University of York), an MA in English Language Teaching (University of Nottingham) and a BA in Applied Linguistics (State University of Nuevo Leon, Mexico). I am a native speaker of Spanish and a professional EFL teacher with over 27 years of experience teaching Modern Foreign Languages, during which I have developed the skills to design courses, materials, and assessment and implement a variety of teaching approaches to cater for students’ demands and needs. When necessary, I also offer students one-to-one guidance to help them lower anxiety over learning and offer advice on how to implement a range of learning strategies according to their needs to maximise their learning potential.

I have worked as a Spanish tutor at the University of York since October 2013 and in these years I have taught modules in levels A1 to C1. I was the coordinator of the Spanish Intercultural Peer Assisted Learning coordinator, a fantastic learning and sharing experience with international students at York supporting students interested in learning Spanish.

I have consistently received positive feedback from students, who identify my modules as fun, relaxed and engaging, and others have rated my teaching as their favourite class. Student’s feedback place me as a really enthusiastic and helpful teacher, and I have been honoured to be referred to on several occasions as "the best teacher I have ever had". This feedback is both humbling and encouraging. I attribute the positive feedback I have received to the flexible and diverse teaching techniques and approaches that I have developed over the years through my experience with students from varying cultural backgrounds and from different fields of study. Students have stated that my teaching has been an inspiration for them and reported I have made them passionate about learning Spanish by keeping the lessons the perfect balance of fun and informative.
