Advert description
Hey there, I'm Jack, a Software Engineering student at the University of Sheffield. I've studied Computer Science at both GCSE and A-Level, having achieved grades 9 and B respectively.
Besides my education, I also have 3 years of practical, real world experience as a Software Engineer under my belt. I've worked for several small businesses all over the world, and take on smaller jobs as an independent contractor. Despite my knowledge, each client has taught me something new about programming and the world of Software Development. Each and every project has required something new from me, be it to learn a new language, or use a new tool; this is the reality that the Software Engineers of tomorrow need to be taught how to prepare for. Rather than showing students a bunch of weird code with little meaning, I believe students should be taught to understand programming on a theoretical level, which they can then take and apply to the real world (for example, by writing a Python script).
As a neurodivergent person myself, I understand that not everyone learns in the same way. Because of this, I tailor my teaching methods to the needs of the student - whether that means more practical teaching, heavy use of illustrations & diagrams, or simply spending more time on a subject to ensure the student has understood the topic.
