I've got asked to teach English to a friend at first as they needed to continue practising it. After a couple of lessons they had said they had really enjoyed the lessons and found them very useful, henceforth, they've started recommending me to their friends as well!
First I like to know the student's goals: whether they are studying for a particular exam, for work, for traveling... From there I can choose the best approach to proceed with the teaching. Since I have studied many languages in my life, I know the learner's journey very well and I know what works best. I like to always adapt the activities to the environment in which the student will be using the language to ensure the benefit is optimum. For example: if the student needs the language for their work in the chemical industry, I would ensure that the vocabulary used is heavy on the terms used in that particular industry.
As I am currently studying languages at one of the top universities in the UK I've had exposure to a lot of knowledge around the language learning processes. I've been taught by experts in the field from different aspects: linguistics, psychology, etc. So, I am aware of the most efficient ways to learn a language.
