I've been teaching English for a couple of years now and I keep getting inspired by the positive feedback from my students and when they tell me of instances where they were able to speak more fluently and with more confidence in the real world after taking classes with me!
First I like to know the student's goals: whether they are studying for a particular exam, for work, for traveling... From there I can choose the best approach to proceed with the teaching. Since I have studied many languages in my life, I know the learner's journey very well and I know what works best. I like to always adapt the activities to the environment in which the student will be using the language to ensure the benefit is optimum. For example: if the student needs the language for their work in the chemical industry, I would ensure that the vocabulary used is heavy on the terms used in that particular industry.
As I have a degree in languages at one of the top universities in the UK I've had exposure to a lot of knowledge around the language learning processes. I've been taught by experts in the field from different aspects: linguistics, psychology, etc. So, I am aware of the most efficient ways to learn a language.
I also have a degree in business which allows me provide my business English lessons with broader subjects and more in-depth vocabulary.
During the course, students are encouraged to "own their own learning", that is to say that I encourage them to stay aware of their progress and their requirements, and to feed it back to me in order to ensure the continuous tailoring of the classes to the students' needs.
