I'm a qualified teacher with over 40 years experience (including more than 20 years as a headteacher) with a Diploma in Primary Mathematics and extensive experience of SEND. I have successfully taken hundreds of children through SATs as well as providing individual and small group tuition.

My first session is free so you can be sure I am the right person to work with your child. This also gives me a chance to find out what you are looking for and to get to know your child a little so I can plan sessions that interest and engage them.

I offer support with specific topics, SATs preparation, ongoing support with schoolwork or short term catch up programmes. I can offer home learning at a time that suits you. Sessions can be split into half hours if that suits your child better.

MY APPROACH
Every child is an individual. My philosophy has always been to start with the child — their challenges, their needs and how they work best.
Parents and carers are involved throughout.
The emphasis is on ensuring the child experiences success and grows in confidence.
Learning should be practical, exciting, engaging and fun!

I take time to get to know each child and understand their strengths and barriers to learning, then plan a programme of work designed to lead them step by step to success. Each session includes a quick assessment of where they are and focusses on exciting, engaging and practical activities to develop then apply their understanding.

I check their understanding at the end of each session and, if required, I can set follow up activities. I can be available online for support between sessions if needed.

I believe children learn best when they feel safe and when they are having fun so I aim to achieve both of these from the very beginning. Getting to know the child as an individual and building a positive relationship is vital. It also helps me to choose activities they enjoy.

I have an enhanced DBS certificate and extensive experience working with children who have anxieties around school and learning.
