Confidence-building French, Spanish & English tutor

Am empathetic and reflective teacher I have extensive experience in language learning and cultural exchange, which helps me create meaningful and engaging lessons tailored to individual needs. My approach is supportive, patient, and focused on building confidence in communication.

My lessons are aimed at individuals of all levels, from beginners to advanced learners, who want to improve their French or Spanish for personal, academic, or professional development, preparing for holidays, business presentations, exams, exploring cultural interests, or simply keeping their mind sharp.

I give you notes to take away and am known for providing my students with a variety of resources outside the classroom.

A passionate advocate of personalised learning as efficient learning, my clients enjoy the learning experience and increase in confidence. Enjoyment, confidence and especially reproducing, as much as possible, the real conditions of speaking a foreign language makes the experience more normal and improves the result.

As listening is generally the thing people find hardest, I speak slowly where appropriate & adapt flexibly to your needs and preferences. I also provide my clients with a wide range of resources beyond the lesson, particularly in the context of practicing speaking and listening.

I like to discover the context of your learning. Will you be using the foreign language to go on holiday or do you need it for a business presentation? What is your aim/ motivation? Do you want to use a more formal or an informal register? What sort of vocabulary will you need?

My lessons tend to be completely in French/Spanish, as far as possible. I prefer to find alternative words in the foreign language that you recognise. There are huge advantages of an immersive lesson where speaking the foreign language all the time becomes normal - as it will be when you are in the foreign country. You also learn to search for ways to say the thing you want to say even if at first you find yourself blocked. As you become more used to this, you think less in English which speeds up language learning.
