Advert description
I have a degree in philosophy at Oxford Brookes and I am currently studying toward a degree in theology at Oxford university. I believe this dual perspective offers a more comprehensive understanding of both disciplines due to their interconnected history.
I teach weekly at my local church and participate in outreach programs, I have plenty of experience with people from all walks of life and have future aspirations to teach philosophy and theology at a high academic level.
I’d like to think of myself as passionate, understanding, friendly, articulate, and someone who cares about people’s philosophical/theological journeys.
My specific areas of specialty is medieval philosophy and philosophy of religion. I am well read in epistemology as this is crucial for any philosopher and I also take interest in ethics as a Christian thinker.
My teaching style is clear, direct, and designed to invite students into the paradoxes, mysteries, and insight that philosophy presents. Philosophy can be abstract I take joy in making it understandable and concrete. My goal is to inspire wonder and spark a desire for deeper exploration, encouraging students to think critically through dialogue and personal reflection.
I believe that both conversation and writing are essential for developing a solid philosophical foundation and fostering independent thought. I take an interest in each students thoughts and perspectives and will help them find their voice in this subject.
By presenting core ideas, illustrating their broader implications, and encouraging philosophical dialogue, I aim to help students reach their own conclusions and grow into thoughtful, critical thinkers capable of independent analysis.
I will also provide further reading if students are interested in continuing to get to grips with philosophy.
