It was amazing having Jordan as a tutor, he is very knowledgeable and friendly and gave me a lot of confidence with my Chemistry. I managed to get a B in my exams beating my predicted C grade!

GCSE/A-Level Science & Maths Tutoring - Oxford Chemistry Graduate - 27 p/h

Advert description
I am Jordan, a recent University of Oxford graduate; having graduated in July 2022 with an MChem Chemistry (1st Class Honours). My research, conducted in the final year of my degree, was centred around using spectroscopic techniques to study transient intermediates formed during enzyme catalysis and my work was included as part of a paper published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry!

I am now working in Finance, having declined an offer to complete a DPhil in Organic Chemistry at the University. Outside of work, I am often playing football or learning Spanish!

Having tutored so many different students I understand that everyone learns in their own way, which is why I am so flexible with my approach to teaching from student to student and sometimes, session to session.

My lessons take place on an interactive whiteboard where both the student and myself can draw and annotate in real-time. The content of each lesson is discussed beforehand with the student, following this discussion I will create a lesson plan which is to act as a guide rather than a rigid structure.

For those that would benefit the approach I favour employing an Oxbridge Tutorial style session, where the lesson is led by the open discussion of problems, which helps build confidence, intuition and a deeper understanding of the theory involved, rather than solely relying on memorisation.
