I am a qualified practising specialist biomedical scientist. My background is based on science and mathematics and so using these skills I have gone on to privately tutor students of various ages right through to adulthood with their maths where needed. I like to go through areas of difficulty that a student may be struggling with and work from there. I use past papers and sit one to one and go through example questions and help students to overcome their difficulties. My successes are seeing students go up in grades through their private learning and adults pass their maths exams for entry level college and apprenticeship courses. I find tutoring rewarding and no two people are the same in terms of their independent learning with everyone having varying requirements. I am patient and thorough as a tutor and it’s more about helping individuals to grasp concepts and remove fears from maths. Learning will be tailor made with an initial meeting with the parent(s)/ guardian(s) of child to assess basic needs and a plan discussed, some students may prefer just a lesson a week, however some may require more lessons dependent on their upcoming exams/ tests. I tend to set independent learning / reading after a visit, this enables the student to build their confidence on things that have been covered, on the return visit these tasks are reviewed and anything that has been challenging can be worked on further before moving onto the next step. I am happy to travel to tutor; a car driver with full enhanced DBS.
