Advert description
Having mentored and coordinated student activities in school and extracurricular settings, I have realised the advantages of 1 to 1 or small group learning. I am motivated to support students in this setting, as students achieve a higher attentiveness and topic understanding when working in focus groups. I particularly noticed this when mentoring shy/discouraged year9s before their presentation at the Envision Project. Overall, personalised learning makes the topic more meaningful and allows students to form intrinsic motivation for subjects that they maybe weren’t initially most confident in.
I enjoy breaking down complex scientific topics and leading students to understand content that they can apply in the future. Focusing on biology since year 9, I appreciate the importance of developing a grasp of fundamental biological principles which have fostered my progression to learning Biology at university level. Hosting a “dopamine and motivation” knowledge share during my placement at Pfizer, provided insight into the importance of visual learning and deconstructing ideas for student’s understanding. I believe visually learning using Zoom software, combined with pol, quiz and question tools such as Wooclap can facilitate this step-by-step process and provide effective active learning techniques.
