GCSE Maths Tutoring and Support

I am a qualified Maths teacher with more than 25 years experience teaching KS3 & KS4 mathematics. My students have always attained either expected or exceeding expected grades. I have been graded outstanding by OFSTED in the last 3 inspections and was also recruited to train with NCETM to provide PD to other Maths teachers needing support and training.

My teaching style has always been based on exploring solutions rather than telling and showing. I place a lot of emphasis on problem solving techniques and try to encourage creative and ‘ out of the box’ ways to reach solutions. Bringing everyday maths into the classroom is essential and probably one of the only ways to show how maths makes sense.

I invite questions and allow mistakes because mistakes create a platform for addressing misconceptions. People learn differently and at different paces. Hence, I allow for time to assess what will work best for individual students. Differentiation is key, listening for understanding is key and adjusting for impactful learning is key.
