I am a qualified Maths teacher with more than 25 years experience teaching KS3 & KS4 mathematics. My students have always attained either expected or exceeding expected grades. I have been graded outstanding by OFSTED in the last 3 inspections and I have completed a course with NCETM to provide PD to other Maths teachers needing support and training.

My teaching style has always been based on exploring solutions rather than telling and showing. I place a lot of emphasis on problem solving techniques and try to encourage creative and ‘ out of the box’ ways to reach solutions. Bringing everyday maths into the classroom is essential and probably one of the only ways to show how maths makes sense.

I invite questions and allow mistakes because mistakes create a platform for addressing misconceptions. People learn differently and at different paces. Hence, I allow for time to assess what will work best for individual students. Differentiation is key, listening for understanding is key and adjusting for impactful learning is key.

I am also very easy going but professional. I see myself and my students as a ‘winning team’, always.
