I am an Irish artist and musician and am based between Dublin, London, and Northern Ireland. I hold honours BA and MA degrees (Fine Art with Art History, and Fine Art, respectively), having studied in Dublin, France, and London. I have exhibited nationally and internationally, with works having been presented at such venues as the V&A (London) and Art Basel (Switzerland), and I regularly participate in exhibitions at home and abroad. Aside from my own work, I also value art work (mainly 20th century Irish) for an art gallery, and perform as a violinist with various orchestras and ensembles.
With my lessons, I try to provide students with the tools to eventually be able to deconstruct the often confusing framework around which contemporary art is made. This involves delving into themes individual and central to each artist's practice, the materials they work with and why, and how their work has arisen from a broader history and bigger cultural questions, encompassing how their contemporary output is also situated as part of a longer history of art production. I will adapt lessons to suit a particular student's areas of interest or artists whose work they enjoy, and will provide a means of being able to build cognitive links between different art practitioners, over a wide spectrum of media such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and music.
