Taking enquiries for Y9 / Y10 GCSE English Language / Literature (Summer/September)

Advert description
I'm currently at full capacity for the academic year (2023-24), so I'm now looking to offer support for students who want to start their academic journey on the right foot for the coming year (2024-25). While it may seem like a lifetime away, September creeps up on all of us. Feel free to get in touch about summer schooling options - whether it's revising complicated texts, essay training or creative / persuasive writing assistance, it's a brilliant idea to begin GCSE preparations early, to hit the ground running.

I've taken a break from in-school teaching (secondary English) to work with homeschooled and struggling students. I build confidence, I build skills, and I build an ownership of English as a form of self-expression. With 10+ years tutoring experience (EAL, Literacy, GCSE, AS and A-Level English) both abroad and in the UK, 1500+hrs of private tutoring in the last year, a PGCE and QTS in English at secondary level, and experience as a GCSE Examiner, I know how to sculpt my students' unique voices to achieve the objectives they need in these exams.

I work with students from Y9-Y11, holding 50 minute sessions and charging a flat fee of £20 per session, inclusive of bespoke materials, specific skills courses and catering to the specific interests of the student. My pricing is deliberately competitive against my experience: I want all students to be able to access learning support, and so charge the absolute minimum possible. My lessons are held online, and I utilise the available technologies to support and further student learning. I currently teach the AQA, Pearson/Edexcel and Eduqas curricula and assessment specifications.

English is a tricky beast - a contradiction combining multiple languages and often using five words when just two will do. It is also inevitably deeply poetic, profoundly expressive and - when we're brave enough to try - entirely empowering. This is my ethos, and this is the truth I make evident for my students.
