Online Chess Lessons. All leves and ages. FIDE Trainer

Advert description
Hi! my name is Matías Ianovsky. I am a professional Chess coach.

Certified as FIDE Trainer (FT), which is the highest trainer title delivered by the International Chess Federation, FIDE Candidate Master (CM), FIDE School Instructor (FSI) and Docente de Ajedrez by FEDA (Spain Chess Federation), I have been teaching Chess for almost 20 years in schools, chess clubs and private lessons. My ELO FIDE is 2218.

I have students in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, England, Germany, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the United States.
I am a certified coach on the online platforms Chess and Lichess.

-The Lessons:
After 20 years of teaching chess to a wide range of people from all ages and levels I concluded that progress in chess has three pillars: Train, Analyze and Play. That is the general structure of my lessons: TAP, Train, Analyze and Play. However, in addition to the structure, there is a more specific element: my classes are always, always! personalized. The content, pace, methods and training material is adapted to your skills and goals in relation to chess.

The lessons are challenging and entertaining, you will have to find creative solutions to different scenarios. Depending on your level and aims we will work over a vast array of subjects : Calculation, Tactics, Theoretical endgames, Positional play, Dynamics, Openings, Pawns structures, Planning, Blindfold training, Swindles, Pattern recognition, among others.

Besides we are going to address more specific topics, to name a few: intuition versus calculation, time administration, building an opening repertoire, practical utility of artistic problems, making a good use of chess engines and databases, psychological aspects of the decision making process.

After every lesson I send homework about the content we are studying (Puzzles, Games, Videos, BooksDatabases, among others).

I think that a plus of my classes is that I keep permanent contact with my students, they can ask me or comment anything about chess outside the lesson time.
My main goal as a coach is not only to help my students to improve their level but also to make them have a good time. The lesson must be full of content, entertaining and challenging at the same time. For me that is an imperative.

I invite you to learn chess together!

Matias has been fantastic at understanding my skill level and then building personalised lessons to help me improve. These are very engaging and although sometimes tough, I always end the lesson feeling like I've really benefited. My chess calculation and understanding of positions in particular have improved massively and I can see a direct improvement in the results I'm having over the board. Matias is also great at going through my over-the-board games with me and can easily describe specific ideas, which is better than simply looking at a 10-move engine line and trying to understand why the computer thinks you're winning at the end. Would thoroughly recommend Matias!

Matías is an unbelievably thoughtful instructor. After the first couple of lessons, I could feel the level of preparation and attention to detail through his chess exercises. In the beginning, he expressed his big picture idea for teaching chess, and since then, he continues to back up his macro level strategy for teaching with incredibly intentional puzzles. Each puzzle hits precisely on an area of my brain that Matías intends to develop; sometimes I can’t help but smile when he shows me a new exercise and I can feel the specific muscle in my brain trying to solve the problem It's obvious to me that Matías spends an enormous amount of time designing and refining his lesson plans. It’s also clear that his passion for the game makes the experience of each lesson singular. Whether it’s a chess story he tells as an anecdote before he reveals the next puzzle, or a moment where he bursts with appreciation for a brilliant chess move, the lessons are always exciting and engaging. When I was first looking for a chess coach, I was uncertain if I really wanted to find one. Do I want to spend the money? Will I really improve? I had previous coaching experience, but it didn't feel very organized and it didn't help as much as I was hoping. Coach Matías is an excellent coach. He does not charge too much but is very organized and methodical. He has many materials planned out which really made me grasp the positional concepts I used to lack. I really have improved, and I look forward to reaching new heights with such an amazing tutor.
