Chess lessons from a Teacher and Titled Player (AFM)

I have been teaching chess, science and technology for 10 years, in both English and Spanish. I believe a teacher's job goes beyond simply explaining theory; it involves helping the student improve their skills and understanding of the subject through practice and constant feedback.

Regarding chess, it can be approached in several ways or a combination of them:

- Competitive: This involves the analysis of strong and weak points, developing an opening repertoire, understanding strategy, honing tactical skills, etc.
- Educative: This focuses mainly on skills that can be extrapolated to the academic world, such as planning, logic, visualization, decision-making, etc.
- Mental Health: This is centered on self-improvement or preventing deterioration by enhancing attention, concentration, memory, calculation, and thought processes.
- Company-Focused: Many companies have found the teachings of chess beneficial, especially in areas like initiative, planning, and differentiating between strategy and tactics, whether for individual growth or team-building sessions.
