Patient, Empathetic and Always Positive - these qualities allow any student to excel even when they are not feeling their most confident in the subject. It can be hard to balance several subjects during GCSEs, but there is always support available. I actively listen to everyone, which allows students to feel heard and thus valued. Communicating clearly and directly also means that students understand exactly what it is that they know, and which areas need practice.

Being a strong leader ensures I can guide every lesson appropriately so that every student gains as much as they can from each session. Problem solving is just as crucial. Being able to understand what is holding a pupil from achieving 100% means I can produce various solutions to help them progress, be it through extra practice worksheets for homework or by explaining different methods of working.

Over my time tutoring students, I have learnt that similar students may have completely different methods to tackle a problem. Understanding students' unique learning styles helps me maximise outputs by developing effective teaching strategies using interesting lesson plans.

Of course, it is just as important to keep a healthy relationship with the students themselves. Rapport-building is an essential skill to have in general life, but especially in the case of student-teacher. Students should be able to share that they struggled on a topic without feeling guilty.

Regular Lesson Plan:
Spend 5-10 minutes at the start checking the previous lesson's homework and go through any questions the student did not understand.
Teach lesson material then allow some time as student is assigned task to complete, mark questions and explain any questions not understood.
Homework distributed towards the end of the lesson.
Last 30 minutes of every other lesson ends in a mini test to recognise students' progress and understanding so far.
