I believe that to be an effective teacher, I shall focus on creating a positive, interactive, participatory, and inclusive environment of teaching and learning. My primary goal as an educator is to create highly participatory spaces in which students feel encouraged and stimulated to build their knowledge through interaction and active learning. I aim to establish a learner-centered environment that enables students to develop: (a) a sound understanding of the subject matter, (b) the capacity to read and think critically, (c) the ability to communicate ideas effectively, and (d) a strong group and teamwork skills. I shall continuously reflect on my teaching practices and prepare to always improve with a focus on specific learning activities, and materials, and with the commitment to provide quality teaching. I believe in learning and implementing new methods of teaching, such as ‘flipping the classroom’ in which students are given the power to structure teaching methods, material, and the classroom itself.
