Advert description
I’m a Malaysian art student and aspiring Chinese language tutor. I grew up in a bilingual household where both Mandarin Chinese and English are my native languages. From a young age, I’ve spoken both languages fluently at home, in school, and with friends—so they’ve always been a natural part of my daily life.
Throughout kindergarten, primary, and secondary school, I studied both English and Mandarin as formal subjects. In Malaysia’s multicultural environment, learning multiple languages is a norm, and I’m grateful for the strong foundation I’ve built in reading, writing, and speaking both. From Chinese essays and idioms to comprehension and oral presentations, I’ve spent years immersed in the richness of the language and culture.
While I haven’t officially taught Mandarin before, I’m excited and motivated to give it a try. I believe that being bilingual from birth, combined with my natural ease in switching between English and Mandarin, has equipped me with the tools to explain language concepts clearly—especially for beginners or those who prefer learning through both languages. I'm honest about being new to tutoring Mandarin, but I’m confident that my strong foundation and passion for teaching will make the learning experience engaging and meaningful.
My teaching experience so far comes from working with kids in a creative setting. I’ve previously worked as a teaching assistant at a children’s art and craft centre, where I helped guide young learners through hands-on projects in a fun, patient, and supportive way. Being the eldest sister in my family, with siblings five and nine years younger, I’ve also naturally grown into a caring and responsible role—often helping them with their schoolwork and daily learning.
As a tutor, I aim to make lessons friendly, interactive, and enjoyable. Whether you’re just starting out or hoping to improve your basic Mandarin, I’ll tailor the class to your pace and interests. I love using real-life examples, creative activities, and visual aids to make learning easier and more relatable.
