English tutor from the U.S. teaching comprehension, fluency, and composition

I am a former news journalist and current freelance proofreader and content writer. I have a passion for the art of communication in all of its forms. Above all else, I love to share that passion with others through teaching. For over 15 years, I have taught reading, writing, and English to students of various ages with different needs and learning styles. In addition to tutoring students with dyslexia and autism, I have taught test prep for over seven years, helped students draft college-entrance essays, and tutored English language learners from China and the Middle East. My teaching style is scaffolded and kinetic—incorporating multiple senses into the learning process to ensure maximum memory retention. Every English lesson I teach builds on the previous lesson and involves reading, listening, speaking, and writing activities. My goal is to help each student reach his or her potential through an engaging and enjoyable learning experience, exciting the curiosity to enhance the desire for continued learning.
