I have experience volunteering in a local primary school, in which I supported students ranging in ages from 6-11 with both English and maths in both group and one to one settings. I have also peer mentored students of lower year groups during my time at university and secondary school, providing social and emotional support, as well as guidance with numerous academic topics, particularly focusing on English, Psychology, and History.
These experiences have not only provided be with a strong understanding of the typical issues which arise among students within their learning and how to best overcome them, but also, the mental blocks and confidence issues which arise. Finally, through attending UCL, a highly international institution, I have mentored many students whose first language is not English, this has really cemented my understanding of the best ways of supporting these students and helping them to improve their language skills.
