Advert description
I became fascinated about bioscience courses after my first degree because, it comprises of the role of bacteria, yeast and moulds in industrial, clinical, environmental health and otherwise. That stimulated my interest in learning more about these in greater detail which ultimately inspired me to study microbiology in the university. I went ahead to obtain a BSc in food technology, MSc in food safety and quality management from the University of Greenwich, and a PhD in food microbiology from the London Metropolitan University.
I have been interested in becoming a lecture because; I believe I have the right personality for teaching. I have the knowledge of the subject areas and have developed the transferable and people’s skill involved in learning and teaching standard. I enjoyed lecturing because, it makes difference in people’s life also, it motivates me for my career strength. Teaching is an avenue to interact with people of all ages, ethnicity, tribe and race. During my study, I came across so many students from different backgrounds and I enjoyed teaching them during classes, practical classes even during their project works and it makes me happy because I have contributed to someone’s life by impacting some knowledge and help them make differences in their lives. I spent all my years in research laboratories as a research student and I found it interesting and willing to apply this knowledge in a classroom where other people of different lifestyles will gain and interact with me. Also, during my PhD program, I participated in a supporting role in a variety of research projects across the School of Human Sciences. I have thought both in higher education and further education including sixth forms and secondary school. I was able to develop those skills for teacher standard during my study and work experiences in so many schools within my locality. I am confident in discussing student feedback and complaints about their weakness in understanding and learning difficulties and provide a possible approach for help. These were as a result of problem solving and teamwork skill, I gained during the PGCE, teaching and learning practice course attended. Also, with the excellent verbal and written communication skills, I can relate to a wide range of people especially student from Asian, African and European countries.
