Li's musical journey commenced at a tender age when he embarked on violin lessons at the age of 6, laying the foundation for his lifelong passion for string instruments. His formal introduction to the viola occurred at the age of 19, and by the age of 23, he had already elevated his commitment, treating his musical pursuits as a professional vocation. Prior to his current endeavors, Li achieved First Honours in a Bachelor's program at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in violin, minoring in viola, and incorporating composition into his academic pursuits. Throughout this formative period, Li received guidance from esteemed instructors such as Goh Ching, Ho Hong Ying, and Dr. Joseph Kam. Notably, Professor Elvis Cheuk played a pivotal role as one of Li's major mentors, shaping his musical journey with wisdom and expertise.
Li's repertoire extends across solo and chamber performances on both national and international platforms, including distinguished venues such as the Hong Kong Culture Centre and the City Center in Hong Kong. His experiences include significant roles such as Principal Viola in the Hong Kong Youth Philharmonica and participation in the University of London Orchestra, demonstrating his dedication to the orchestral arts.
In addition to his ensemble work, Li is an active member of the Skong Quartet and serves as a violist in String Quartet (name tbh), showcasing his commitment to collaborative musical excellence. Beyond his own musical pursuits, Li generously imparts his knowledge through private lessons in viola, violin, and composition. Whether through in-person sessions or online instruction, he tailors his guidance to the unique needs of each student.
As a resident of the UK, Li is positioned to contribute seamlessly to the vibrant musical landscape of the country. He enthusiastically welcomes opportunities for performances, recording projects, and composition commissions. Li's students benefit not only from his technical prowess but also from his exceptional ability to cultivate a profound understanding of music and instill strong sight-reading skills, leading to outstanding performances in examinations and concerts alike.
