Physics & Maths Tutor for A-Level and GCSEs

Advert description
I'm Sam, a 3rd year Theoretical Physics student at Imperial College London. Teaching is my passion because there's nothing like seeing that moment when a student finally gets a tough concept. Their eyes light up, and it's clear they've had a breakthrough. I've been tutoring for over four years, helping students ace their exams and build confidence in subjects like Chemistry, Physics, and Maths.

Beyond tutoring, I've worked as an AI Research Assistant, developing a specialized GPT tutor for future Imperial students, and presenting it at major conferences, such as the AdvanceHE 2024. I also mentor groups of students at Imperial's Global Summer School, guiding them through physics and coding projects. My experience includes leading a team to design a liquid mirror telescope and developing an optical ray tracer, showcasing my strong problem-solving skills.

In addition to my academic and teaching roles, I've achieved Gold Awards in both the British Physics and UK Chemistry Olympiads and earned a Silver Certificate in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge. I'm also an active member of the Imperial College Persian Society, currently serving as the Social Media Officer.

I love making complex topics simple and watching my students succeed, whether through one-on-one sessions or group mentoring. With a solid background in physics, AI, and teaching, I'm dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.

The structure of a typical 1-on-1 lesson is as followed:

1. We go through the notes and ALL the small details that make an A grade student an A*.
2. I do a few sample questions with you, ranging in difficulty, showing you how to tackle different types of problems.
3. Your turn: You continue practicing with questions I provide, ensuring you reinforce your learning.

At the end of each session (typically 1hr), a homework is attached and you're expected to send the completed homework before the next session, where I would mark and go through in session if necessary.

Over the past year, I've had some truly rewarding moments as a tutor:

1. A-Level Triumphs: Two students who started with average grades of B ended up scoring A*s in their A-level Physics exams. One of them also got A*s in Maths and Further Maths, which was amazing to see.
2. Oxford Success: One of my students preparing for the PAT test not only aced it but also got into Oxford to study Physics.
