Experienced English Teacher

I have been teaching Primary in multiple-stage settings in class for almost twenty years and then online for over a year. I have studied language up to A level standard, then spent the next couple of decades honing my skills.

initially, I studied Science and I have a Science degree as well as a Post Graduate Degree in Teaching. Writing and poetry are among my main hobbies and there's usually always something being written or 'shaped' into a piece or writing at my work desk!

Usually, I adapt lessons to suit each pupil and am experienced in finding way to make lessons more interesting for pupils. I will structure the lessons to show a learning intention, will discuss how we will approach it and finally, I will recap our learning in a session. I can then set next steps and track progression.

My pupils set the pace at the start and I like to choose animation/music/diagrams/illustrations - anything that helps embed the information! I have a really good sense of humour and like to make learning entertaining as well as productive. My online experience was based around vulnerable and reluctant learners, Send / ASN pupils - and those that just needed to catch up for various reasons.

It's important for me to get to know my pupils and create an comfortable space of respect and trust. I am always humbled to watch their progress and take huge satisfaction in helping pupils move forward.
