Advert description
My session plans would be generally structured as followed (but adaptable and tailored to the student’s needs):
- a recap of previous session with a short test to go through and discuss afterwards (approx. 10-15 min)
- introductory list of new vocabulary for today’s topic including 2-3 short exercises involving the new vocabulary (approx. 10-15 min)
- a short text based on today’s topic for the student to read through and answer a few comprehensive questions to ensure their understanding (approx. 10-15 min)
- a 1-2 minute audio clip played with a few follow-up questions to ensure student’s understanding (approx. 10-15 min)
- a brief conversation in target language to discuss today’s topic further (can draw ideas from text/audio) (approx. 5-10 mins)
These sessions are designed to enable the student to practise the key components of a language (reading, listening, speaking). After a few weeks I may ask the student to write a brief passage (200-400 words) on one of the topics covered to allow them to practise their writing skills, too. However, these session plans are a general structure, and if the student is confident in their speaking ability but needs practise in their listening skills for example, the sessions will be tailored to spend more time on that skill.
