Advert description
I have a undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations so I am well versed in high level written and spoken english. I am also currently pursuing a masters degree at the University of Glasgow where I am studying Earth Futures, an interdiciplinary look at the future and solutions of a world undergoing climate change. I have also participated in short term english tutoring for non-native speakers.
I like to structure my class based around conversational english to truly allow for a natural native pronunciation and timing of the language to come through. I like to use reading materials as well as recorded videos where I can foster a sense of discussion after. I am also around to help with grammer questions, if the students has any! I also recommend shows and movies to students become more comfortable with the sounds of the language. We can also discuss these further in the class.I also hope that with the inclusion of outside work that is fun and engaging- mostly watching tv- students will be able to grow in familiarity with the language and have more a desire to learn. I hope to use my skills to install a sense of comfort and confidence on my prospective students as they pursue the english language. I have in past also engaged with fill in the blank word exercises as well as other word games that proved to be helpful in students learning not only the grammer but practicing speaking as well. I also like to task students with creating their own short stories to practicing writing and reading! However, I am open to working and curtailing each tutoring session to how each propestictive student needs!
My degree also mandated that I take and learn multiple historical classes mostly pertaining to European history from the1700's to the present, so I feel extremely comfortable with helping students with this topic as well. History has also always been a passion for me outside of school as well so I have deep dived into certain sects of history throughout the world. I can help students with remembering concrete events of a specific timeline through the use of memory games and discussion as well as help students understand more conceptual historical ideas through discussion and analysis tools. I would like to help in anyway possible in order for the students to learn to their best ability!
