GCSE and A-Level Mathematics: 25+ years of experience

I've been teaching in a top state school in NE England for 25+ years, and also have around 5 years experience in providing private tuition.

I have quite a traditional approach; an engaging style of explanation coupled with plenty of practice and feedback are key to success. I have tutored professionally (as well as for friends) for a number of years, and have seen my students progress in both understanding and confidence. I am told that I am very patient!

I teach Years 7-13 (age 11-18) on a regular basis each week, although I also have experience teaching students in Years 5 and 6 who want a boost before the move up to secondary school. I have huge experience teaching Foundation and Higher GCSE Mathematics, as well as Core Mathematics at A-Level.

Too many lessons nowadays are one PowerPoint slide after another - but not with me. I always take care to address the specific difficulties a student has, rather than insisting on a one-size-fits-all approach.
