Advert description
With over 300 hours of tutoring experience, I am a passionate and dedicated mathematics tutor committed to helping students of all ages and abilities succeed. As well as private tutoring, I have worked as a Mathematics Mentor at a local school, where I introduced students to advanced concepts beyond their curriculum, fostering both understanding and enthusiasm for the subject.
I hold a First-Class BSc in Mathematics from the University of Exeter, where I honed my expertise in mathematical modeling, statistics, and data analysis. I also achieved an A* in maths at A-Level and a 9 in my maths GCSE.
In addition to my love for mathematics, I enjoy reading and playing board games, which help me unwind and think critically in different ways. As a calm and thoughtful person, I bring patience and a supportive approach to my tutoring sessions, creating a relaxed and focused environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions and explore new ideas.
In our first session, I spend time understanding each student’s learning style, goals, and areas needing support. I ask whether they prefer focusing on homework or exploring curriculum topics, tailoring each lesson to their preferences. If we work on homework, I guide them through the assignment, encouraging them to think critically rather than providing direct answers, building confidence and problem-solving skills.
For students who prefer topic-based lessons, I create interactive sessions focused on a chosen area, starting with their existing knowledge and working through examples, explanations, and practice problems. I ensure plenty of time for questions, making sure the student feels engaged throughout.
Each session ends with a brief review, and I ask if there are specific topics they want to cover next time, keeping lessons focused on their needs and promoting active participation in their learning.
