I have just finished my degree in Mathematics at the University of Exeter. I have over 300 hours of experience with tutoring maths and additional experience with mentoring students. My favourite field in maths is pure maths (algebra, geometry, calculus etc) but I also have experience of applied maths up to university level.
I would say that I am definitely an approachable person with a lot of patience. I always like to start my sessions with asking the students how they are. During a typical session, I would do a warm up activity. For younger students this may be in the form of a game. For the bulk of the session I usually prepare a work sheet beforehand or bring along a past paper/topic questions for us to work through. I always ask the students what topics they feel less confident with, but if a student does not know what their weaknesses are I start off by doing some mixed questions to get a better understanding of this and then learning can be more focussed on particular areas in future lessons.
I am available 8am - 10pm weekdays. Homework is optional, but I am happy to prepare more resources for students if they wish to do more work outside of our lessons. I like to check in with my students or their parent/carer to touch base and make sure that they are getting the most out of our lessons.
