In my previous exerience I would be sure to familiarise myself with the student in order to ensure tutoring lessons are best suited to them. Generally, I would help my tutees with their homework as well as help them to better understand the subject they are having difficulty with. I would always encourage them to complete their homework to the best of their abilities before meeting with me to get a better understanding of the specific areas they are having trouble with. As I used to tutor at my school, I could get into contact with my teachers to get an understanding of what would be the subject of their next lessons, so I could prepare a summary worksheet for my tutees in order to help them solidify their understanding to the best of their abilities.
