Advert description
I just finished my undergraduate degree in history at the University of Aberdeen last month. I have moved to Edinburgh to start my Master's in Intellectual History at the University of Edinburgh in September. I encountered and learned about various historical periods, themes, and topics throughout my degree. I would love to offer students support in furthering their knowledge of history in a fun and engaging way. I have had a particular interest in the history of medicine since I wrote my dissertation on the Spanish 'Flu pandemic in Scotland. Furthermore, I also have a keen interest in and extensive knowledge of contemporary history, such as the history of Black Radicalism and the Civil Rights Movement in the United States, both of which are of acute relevance for the present. It is also worth adding that I moved to Scotland from Germany four years ago to study at university, meaning that I am fluent in two languages and have extensive knowledge of German history and contemporary German culture.
When tutoring students in history, I will try to make sure that the way of learning suits the individual and not try to force a 'one-approach-fits-all'. History can be fun if taught and discussed in a relaxed, non-judgemental environment. After all, it is not just about remembering dates; it has much more to it, and I hope to bring such an understanding to any students I should teach.
