Learning Language, not only Language

Hello! My name is Spruce. I am currently a student at the College of Art within the University of Edinburgh. My academic journey, underscored by a deep passion for arts, history, films, and travel, has not only shaped my global perspective but also fortified my resolve to bridge cultures.

Having lived in the UK for four years, I can converse fluently in English. When explanations are required, I will seamlessly switch to English to ensure clarity. This ensures that learners need not be hesitant or apprehensive about initiating conversations. The genesis of any language learning journey is the courage to speak out and communicate.

Being a native Chinese speaker studying in an English-speaking country, I comprehend the nuances of language acquisition. It transcends mere mastery of sounds, syntax, or vocabulary; it's about delving into the culture and history woven into every phrase and idiom. It's a window into a nation's soul, its people, and its heritage.

Furthermore, I have undergone twelve years of traditional compulsory education leading up to the Gaokao (China's National College Entrance Examination). This solidifies my foundational knowledge of the Chinese language. Beyond engaging in conversational practices, I can provide constructive feedback on Chinese writing assignments, encompassing creative writing to academic essays.
