I am an experienced Scientist who tutors Chemistry and Maths

I have an Honours degree and a PhD and studied Chemistry and Maths at University. For the last two years I have tutored in Nat 5 Chemistry and Maths and Higher Chemistry. I worked as an analytical chemist and had the opportunity to work with many young people during my career.

My experience of tutoring has been very positive and successful. I've focused on creating relaxed sessions where everybody is comfortable and confident in saying how they feel about topics and their understanding. I use on line teaching materials and focus on areas of the course that pupils are finding difficult, although I am happy to cover any topic at all. Equally, I am happy to suggest topics for revision based on my knowledge of important areas of the syllabus . I also focus on becoming familiar with the types of questions, and understanding what the examiner is looking for, which typically come up in exams. At the end of the day, understanding course topics is important but knowing how to answers questions, and in sufficient detail, is just as important. This approach has been really effective at building confidence and removing the fear that often exists about exams.

I am a laid back and friendly person with two children of my own. I am committed to helping pupils to achieve the best results they can and I tailor sessions to each individual to achieve that. I can guarantee you my full attention and availability and creative and fun ways approaches to learning.
